Black Bear

The Niut Range stands as a first step into the Coast Range mountains. Located in west central B.C. in the Chilcotin region, bordered on the west by Mosley Creek, and on the east by Tatlayoko Lake and the Homathko River, this range overlooks the Chilcotin Plateau. To the south west, and dominant, is Mt. Waddington and the Coast Range. This wilderness area offers a broad range of special features including, numerous alpine lakes, snow fields, glaciers, water falls, rugged cliffs, and has been described as a world class wilderness.

Since early survey parties in the 1930's, horseback travel has been the traditonal method of transport to access this area by ranchers, guides, trappers and recreationalists. Today, both hiking and horseback travel are popular. The opportunity is here for you to visit these alpine lakes, snow fields and glaciers. Open alpine areas present easy travelling, whether on horseback or on foot. Alpine flowers, wildlife, including marmots, mule deer, mountain goats, and moose are often seen.

Whether you wish to ride, hike, or climb - fish or find wildlife - photogragh landscape or discover alpine flowers --- or simply relax around camp - the choice is yours. Niut Trails is a licenced guiding business. We, as many of our neighbours do, consider this special area an enhancement to our community. Along with a wish to share it with others , we are committed to preserving its wilderness values. Trips are tailored to meet your requirements and experience, and we are happy to custom design a trip for you. To ensure personal service, we accomodate only small groups. We are licenced guides and members of the Guide Outfitter Association of British Columbia and Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association.

our guests say:
Dear Eric,

I wish to extend my thanks to you for making Greg & Rebecca's adventure with you a memorable one. They returned filled with enthusiasm about their four days (smiles from ear to ear.) I know they will treasure this experience in the Chilcotin forever and will be advertising your services on the east coast.
